Hot and humid up to 35°C. The lotus flowers bloom on West Lake, creating stunning photo opportunities. Evening lakeside walks are magical.
Autumn · Sep–Nov
Crisp air, golden gingko trees, and the sweet scent of osmanthus flowers filling the city streets. Comfortable 15–28°C.
Winter · Dec–Feb

The Hangzhou metro has 13 lines covering the city. Buses and taxis are also convenient. Rent a bike to circle West Lake — it's about 10 km.
Alipay was invented in Hangzhou — mobile payments are accepted everywhere including at tea villages and small shops.
English is common around West Lake and in hotels. Less so in local neighborhoods. Pleco translation app is very helpful.
Real Longjing tea comes from the area near West Lake. Prices range from ¥500–5,000 per jin. Stick to reputable shops to avoid fakes.
