Afternoon is open — you can rest or explore. Three curated options:
Option A · Easy

Chen Clan Academy
Intricate roof carvings and ceramic figures — a masterpiece of Lingnan architecture
Option B · Cultural

Option C · Iconic
🐏 Yuexiu Park + Five Rams Statue (越秀公园·五羊石像)

Beef rice rolls, steamed chicken (Halal), stir-fried noodles. The only place where you can eat authentic Cantonese food without worrying about pork. ¥100–150/person.
Day 5
Old Guangzhou · Full Culture Day
Thursday, July 16
No plant visits — deep dive into Guangzhou's history and character
9:00 AM–12:00 PM · ⭐ MUST GO — Yongqingfang (永庆坊)
Yongqingfang — a revitalized historic neighborhood in the old Liwan district. Winding alleys, traditional Cantonese shophouses (qilou architecture), craft workshops, the Bruce Lee ancestral home, and the Cantonese Opera Museum. The best single place to absorb old Guangzhou's character. Plan 2–3 hours. Free entry (some workshops charge small fees).

Metro: Line 1 to Changshou Lu (长寿路), 10-min walk. Or ~25-min taxi from hotel.
12:00–1:30 PM · Lunch (near Yongqingfang)
Halal-friendly options in the Liwan area are limited. Recommended strategy: pack a takeaway lunch from Xiaobei Halal shops before departing, or ask the hotel to pre-identify a nearby Halal restaurant. Alternatively, many Muslim-owned Lanzhou noodle shops (兰州拉面) exist throughout Guangzhou — look for the green Halal signage (حلال).
2:00–4:00 PM · ⭐ MUST GO — Shamian Island (沙面)
Former British and French concession, now a tranquil tree-lined island with 19th-century European architecture. Quiet streets, almost no cars, perfect for a relaxed afternoon walk. Bronze statues, old churches (exterior only), and the famous White Swan Hotel lobby with its indoor waterfall — worth a quick peek. A stunning contrast to the intensity of the plant visits.

15-min walk from Yongqingfang along the river, or 5-min taxi.
4:30–5:30 PM · RECOMMENDED — Huaisheng Mosque (怀圣清真寺)
One of China's oldest mosques, built in 627 AD during the Tang Dynasty. The Guangta (Light Tower) minaret — a 36m smooth cylindrical stone tower — predates most Islamic architecture outside the Middle East. Still an active place of worship with a peaceful courtyard. you, as a Muslim, will find this deeply meaningful — tangible evidence of Islam's 1,400-year presence in China.

15-min taxi from Shamian. Accessible to Muslims; dress modestly. Exterior and courtyard viewable.
7:00 PM · Send-Off Dinner
MASALAKING Indian Fine Dining 玛莎拉王高级印度餐 Upscale Indian dining — the perfect send-off. Rich curries, biryani, tandoori in a refined setting. A step up from the casual meals earlier in the trip. ¥120–180/person.
EVENING PLAN After dinner (~8:30 PM), you have options for your final night in Guangzhou:
Option A · The Historic
🏮 Beijing Road Night Stroll (北京路步行街)
Guangzhou's oldest commercial street, now a vibrant pedestrian boulevard lit with neon at night. The highlight: 1,000-year-old road ruins preserved under glass beneath your feet — layers of cobblestone from the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. Lined with shops, street food stalls, and modern malls. Perfect for last-minute souvenir hunting and soaking in the city's living history. Metro Line 6 to Beijing Lu station, ~20 min from hotel. Free entry.
Option B · The Modern
🗼 Canton Tower + Liede Bridge Night View
Metro or taxi to Canton Tower (广州塔). Take the elevator to the observation deck (¥150, open until 10:30 PM) for a 360° city panorama, or simply walk along the riverfront promenade below. Cross Liede Bridge on foot for the classic photo angle of the tower. Nearby: Party Pier (琶醍) bar strip for a nightcap (non-alcoholic options available).
Recommended combo: Beijing Road for history & last shopping, or Canton Tower for the skyline finale. If you haven't done the Pearl River cruise on Days 2–3, you can swap that in — but Beijing Road gives you something completely different from the earlier evenings.
Day 6
Last Morning & Departure
Friday, July 17
Half day — depart by 1:30 PM
8:00–10:30 AM · Morning
Leisurely breakfast at the hotel. Last-minute shopping in Xiaobei — Halal snacks, dried fruits, spices, or souvenirs from the Muslim quarter. The Xiaobei street market wakes up early — great for picking up Chinese dates (红枣), Xinjiang raisins, or packaged spice mixes to take home.

Check out of hotel. Light lunch nearby — RiteBite is open for early lunch or grab a takeaway for the airport.
1:30 PM · Depart for Airport
Taxi or DiDi to CAN T2 (~45 min). TG 669 departs at 3:45 PM.
Neighborhood Spotlight

🕌 Xiaobei: Your Home Abroad

A Muslim neighborhood in the heart of Guangzhou — where you will find familiar faces, familiar flavors, and a sense of belonging 8,000 miles from home.

📍 Where It Is

Xiaobei is a 5-minute walk from your hotel (Atour Taojin). Metro Line 5, Xiaobei Station, Exit D. Walk under the overpass to the right, then straight through Baohan Straight Street. You are in the right place when you see the Adana Turkish restaurant and the Halal ice-cream shop.

🕰️ Fourteen Centuries of History

Islam has been in Guangzhou for over 1,400 years. The nearby Huaisheng Mosque (怀圣寺) was built in 627 AD during the Tang Dynasty — one of the oldest surviving mosques in the world. Xiaobei carries that living legacy: a community where the call to prayer and Cantonese street noise blend together.

Why this neighborhood matters for you: After 8–10 hours in industrial suburbs visiting plants, you will return to a neighborhood where the aroma of kebabs, the sound of Urdu, and the sight of green Halal signage (حلال) greet you at every corner. It is not just a place to eat — it is a place to breathe.

🍽️ What You Will Find There

  • RiteBite Pakistani Restaurant — your daily canteen. Biryani, kebabs, naan, curries. 3-min walk from the hotel.
  • SUKH HAHAl Indian Restaurant — tandoori, curries, and breads in a casual setting.
  • MASALAKING Indian Fine Dining — refined curries and tandoori for a special night.
  • Moroccan & Turkish cafés — lamb tagine, mint tea, shawarma, floor-seating areas.
Halal street food: kebabs, naan, curry, and spices at a Xiaobei food stall
Fresh kebabs, warm naan, and fragrant spices — the flavors of Xiaobei

🌙 After Dark: The Street Comes Alive

By 10 PM, Xiaobei is still buzzing. Halal bakeries are pulling fresh flatbread from the oven. Kebab stalls are grilling over charcoal. African traders haggle over shipments. The yogurt shaved-ice vendor on Baohan Straight Street stays open late. This is when the neighborhood feels most alive — and most like home.
